Tadar Muhammad, Senior Vice President, Philanthropy & Strategic Partnerships 

Tadar Muhammad leads Heart of Florida United Way’s resource development efforts and is responsible for driving and growing revenue for mission-focused HFUW programs focused on basic needs, education, financial stability and health. He will also grow current development initiatives and create new partnerships, building on areas of opportunity such as workplace campaigns, affinity groups, major gifts, planned giving and new business development. 

Muhammad joins HFUW from the Home Builders Institute in Washington D.C. where he spent 20 years leading the mission of providing education, career development, training and placement of men and women in the building industry. During his time there, he managed five Justice Involved Youth and Adult programs in Florida and expanded it to 25 programs – and recently into three additional states. He also expanded four veterans’ programs with state funds in Florida and 10 military programs in partnership with the Home Depot Foundation. Tadar developed a program to license the organization’s curriculum to external partners, which now serves 14,000 students through 90 programs in 25 states. Finally, he created an academic program designed to be a place for all students to learn a skill before transitioning to employment. 

A native Chicagoan, Muhammad moved to Orlando in 1983. After receiving a scholarship to Valencia College and a B.A. in Organizational Management from Warner University in 2001, he earned his Executive MBA from Rollins College’s Crummer Graduate School of Business in 2017. Muhammad is Chairman of the Board for the Orange County Citizens Commission for Children, Sunshine Charter High Schools in Orange County and Florida Endowment Foundation for Florida Graduates; Vice Chairman of the Board for the Florida Juvenile Justice Foundation; and also Alumni Board Member for the Crummer Graduate School of Business at Rollins College.
