Dr. Bernadette Profeta
Board Certified General Surgeon
Florida Hospital
Dr. Bernadette Profeta is newest member of the medical staff at Florida Hospital East Orlando. She is a board-certified general surgeon who is fellowship trained in minimally invasive surgery. She is a graduate of St. Joseph's University and received her medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, where she was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society.
She remained at Jefferson where she completed a General Surgery Internship and Residency. While there, Dr. Profeta displayed her skills at teaching surgery and was honored with the Goracci Teaching Award for Chief Residents, the Chief Resident Hands of a Surgeon Award and numerous Medical Student Teaching Awards.
Dr. Profeta then completed her fellowship training in minimally invasive and bariatric surgery at the Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, VA, where she also served as an Instructor in Surgery. After fellowship, Dr. Profeta was in private practice general and laparoscopic surgery for the Frankford Health System, and later returned to Jefferson to pursue an academic career as an Assistant Professor of Surgery.
Dr. Profeta is a member of numerous surgical societies including the American College of Surgeons, Society for Laparoendoscopic Surgery, Association of Academic Surgeons and the Society of Surgery of the Alimentary Tract. Dr. Profeta has authored/coauthored a number of abstracts and publications.
Her areas of expertise include:
- Minimally invasive and advanced laparoscopic general surgery
- Solid organ surgery
- Breast surgery
- Gastrointestinal Surgery
- Hernia repair surgery
Technology has improved many traditional surgical procedures that once made recovery both long and painful.
