Low Voltage Cable Technician

Install and terminate copper and fiber optic cables for data, voice, and video networks.

  • Adhere to industry standards and best practices in cabling installation.
  • Install cable support structures, such as trays, racks, and conduit systems.
  • Collaborate with network engineers and other stakeholders to design and plan cabling infrastructure based on project requirements.
  • Ensure proper cable management and labeling for ease of identification and troubleshooting.
  • Conduct thorough testing and certification of installed cables using appropriate tools and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity issues, ensuring optimal performance of the cabling infrastructure.
  • Create and maintain accurate documentation of cabling layouts, diagrams, and specifications.
  • Update documentation to reflect changes made during installations or modifications.
  • Adhere to industry standards, codes, and regulations related to cabling installations.
  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a secure working environment.
  • Communicate effectively with clients and project stakeholders to understand their requirements and provide status updates.
  • Address client concerns and provide solutions to meet their needs.
  • Perform routine maintenance on existing cabling infrastructure to identify and address potential issues.
  • Upgrade or expand cabling systems to accommodate changes in network requirements.
  • Ensure the quality and reliability of cabling installations through rigorous testing and validation procedures.
  • Implement best practices to achieve high standards of workmanship.
Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical certifications in cabling systems are a plus.
  • Proven experience as a Cabling Technician or a related role.
  • Proficiency in using cabling tools and equipment for installation, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of industry standards, codes, and regulations related to cabling.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Physical ability to lift and maneuver heavy equipment and work in various environments.
